Edward L. Bittle worked in the booming rubber industry of Akron, Ohio during the 40’s and 50’s and saw the opportunity to capitalize on a niche market – custom rubber seals. In 1974 he founded Seal Master to do just that. In order to fulfill increasing demand, the company eventually brought all of their rubber and silicone extrusion operations in house. With these production capabilities, ELBEX (Edward L Bittle Extrusions) was born as a sister company to Seal Master Corporation, and was incorporated in 1991. In 1999, ELBEX moved from the Seal Master facility to its own manufacturing plant in Kent, Ohio. It is here that ELBEX began to offer its manufacturing capabilities to the variety of markets that we serve today.
